Frequently Asked Questions

💳 How do scans / credits work?

Each scan uses 1 credit. You start with a few free credits, and can buy more credit packs anytime from the Paywall. PlantDoctor also offers an optional auto-renewing Pro subscription (see the Paywall in the app for current plans and prices), billed by Apple / Google; you can cancel any time in your store's subscription settings.

⏳ Do credits expire?

No. Credits never expire — buy them once and use them whenever you need a diagnosis.

💸 Can I get a refund?

Credits are consumable in-app purchases processed by Apple or Google Play. Refund eligibility follows the applicable store policy and your statutory rights. Request a refund through Google Play or Apple. Purchased credits never expire.

🔁 I bought credits but they didn't appear / I changed devices.

Sign in with the same PlantDoctor account (Google — and the same Apple ID / Google Play account you used for the purchase). Credit balance and Pro status are tied to that account and refresh automatically after sign-in and on app launch — no extra restore step in Settings.

🤔 Credits or Pro — which should I choose?

Credits are pay-as-you-go and never expire — good if you only scan occasionally. Pro is an auto-renewing subscription with 50 credits per month on both monthly and annual plans, plus extra features — good if you scan often. Cancel Pro any time in your App Store / Google Play subscription settings; cancelling does not delete your plant data.

📷 Why did my diagnosis fail?

Make sure the photo is well-lit and the leaf fills most of the frame. If a disease can't be confirmed with high confidence, we'll ask a quick follow-up or suggest the most likely cause. Credits are only used once a scan is actually submitted.

🔔 I'm getting too many (or too few) notifications.

PlantDoctor sends at most 2 notifications per day. You can adjust or disable them in iOS Settings → Notifications → PlantDoctor.

📍 Why do you need my location?

To fetch your local weather and resolve your city for watering reminders. The app asks for a high-precision (GPS) location first, then falls back to network location, and sends the coordinates to our weather / city-lookup providers (weather provider, BigDataCloud). You can deny location access and the app still works, but local weather features are unavailable.

🗑 What is the difference between "Delete my cloud data" and "Delete account"?

Delete my cloud data (Settings → "Delete my cloud data") removes your cloud copy — plants, diagnosis and care records, and the photos you saved to our servers — but keeps your account and your credits. Data already on your device stays there until you delete the app.

Delete account (Settings → "Delete account") permanently deletes your account and all of that cloud data, and signs you out. It cannot be undone and does not cancel an active Pro subscription — cancel it first in your App Store / Google Play subscription settings. If you no longer have the app, email us at jia_yi_chen@126.com.

📦 How do I export my data?

Settings → "Export all data (JSON)". This gives you a downloadable JSON copy of your plant, care and diagnosis data.

🌱 Is PlantDoctor a substitute for a professional?

No. We provide informational guidance and product suggestions. Always follow product labels, and for severe cases consider a local nursery or extension service.
